Catch 22 is a national charity specialising in working with disadvantaged young people, Laura Holmes and Jo Ridley manage the Swindon project, based in Old Town. All our students are aged 16 to 18-years-old who have had difficulties with attending mainstream school or are not quite ready to move on to college.
This could be because of social and emotional difficulties, illness, family issues such as being a young carer or being in care. We offer a nurturing environment and our small groups enable learners to feel secure and develop at their own pace. On completing a programme with Catch 22, all of our students last year progressed to apprenticeship training, employment or further education.
We work with students to help develop their skills and confidence, and gain work experience by working as a team on our enterprise project, Pig Town Products. We will be able to share with you some of our successes and plans for development after our first year as a Study Programme, a new initiative to re-engage young people into education and training.
