A Fellowship Meeting

Tue, Jun 2nd 2015 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

JVP John Kilgour welcomed 19 members of the club and 6 guests to the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy at the Dean Park Hotel. Along with -

There was no speaker at the meeting and instead club members enjoyed time for fellowship and hearing details of upcoming events.

Ian Brown gave an update on planning for the Cycling event taking place at Beveridge Park on Father’s Day – 21 June. Things are shaping up with arrangements from registration at the start of the route in Cowdenbeath to lane marking in the park at the other end all in place.

John again asked for members of the club to help out with garden at Rosslyn Primary School at the end of this week. Alice Soper also reminded keen gardeners that there was a chance to work on the station planting on Thursday morning and more opportunities were in the pipeline.

3 of the club’s 4 RYLA candidates- Lara Paterson form Balwearie HS, Talia Toruntay from Kirkcaldy High School and Sorcha Wood from St Andrews HS were guests at the lunch. The fourth candidate – Ben Ramsay, from Balwearrie HS was unable to attend today but it was good to have the others join us at such a busy time in the academic year. Members wished all four luck at their Rotary Youth Leadership camps at Nethybridge and look forward to hearing about their experiences later in the year.

Finally Ron McGill reminded members of the arrangements for Kids Out Day, which takes place at Craigtoun Park on Tuesday 10th June. An especially note of thanks went to the volunteers who are opening up the park for us and fingers are crossed for good weather for the 90+ children we hope will be coming along on the day.
