Purple Pinkie Day Friday 8 March 2019
Both clubs continue to fund raise to assist the work being done to eradicate polio world wide.

Both local Rotary Clubs (Rotary Club of Guernsey and Rotary Guernesiais) raise money throughout the year for polio as it is part of the Rotary Organisation’s mission to “End Polio Now”.
India has been Polio free for 5 years and Nigeria was declared polio free in 2015. There are two countries left where Polio is endemic: Pakistan and Afghanistan. These countries present obvious logistic and cultural challenges, and until Polio is eradicated entirely it is vital to continue to vaccinate children around the world.
This year Rotarian Janine Birtwhistle of Rotary Club of Guernsey has successfully negotiated with the Guernsey Overseas Aid Commission to match fund any money raised (up to a maximum of £40k).
Further to this the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have also agreed to extend their 2 to 1 match funding.

So this means that every £1 we raise is turned into £6!
