Firstly, I thought college excelled themselves on Thursday; there was a wide choice of food and I thought it was even better than usual - I have certainly paid big prices for bread and butter pudding in fancy restaurants and it's not been as good.
There was a good attendance for the xmas party night, which started with santa's helper, Leila, saying Grace.
I had special permission from our Treasurer to make it an evening exempt from fines - although some of the antics during the evening might have been ripe for many fines.
As it was party night we avoided parish announcements as far as possible. Reference was made to our Charity for this year, Barrow Farm. We had learnt during the week that they had suffered a major theft of equipment last weekend and we had made contact to see if they needed immediate help; they have had many offers and don't currently need anything from us.
We played 4 games brilliantly prepared by Richard and Jan C. It always surprises me how quiet people go when a quiz - in this case xmas anagrams - has been distributed; certainly more effective than a bell!
The games involved strange drawings, holding hands and large volume of toilet paper - and somehow ended in me apparently wearing a Spurs scarf, although thankfully I couldn't see it.
We are really fortunate in having members who are prepared to put in the effort to prepare and then run these events.
Bryan took away the raffle prize.
Next week we are back at college for xmas dinner. We are of course an informal club with few rules and certainly no dress code; but a few ladies have suggested they may don some 'glad rags' for Thursday so you may want to take note of that! Apologies and guests to Jane by Monday please.
Don't forget, we have our carol 'singing' on Sunday 20th and this year I have arranged for musical accompaniment. Whilst many members are signed up, this is an event that really can only work with a good number of bodies so if you can help, even for part of the time please do so.
