Annual General Meeting

Tue, Apr 12th 2016 at 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Twenty-six members swam through the rain to Tuesday's meeting where President John cheered us up reading a very nice thank you letter from Olivia Giles, last week's inspirational speaker. John then opened the AGM by giving a review of the Club's activities in the Rotary year to date and mentioning other activities planned before the end of June. He then called on Committee Chairmen to add more on the work of their committee. Highlights were that the average per capita donation of our Club to Rotary's own Charity which supports projects all round the world had risen significantly in recent years; seven new members  will shortly have been recruited this year and floral work on Kirkcaldy station and with schools is continuing to bloom. Treasurer Bill Stewart pointed out that as our financial year ended at the end of June his was  only an overview of the year to date. which he reported was very satisfactory. A recent boost was given the receipt from HMRC of £3000. He reminded members that most of our charity donations will be decided at the Council meeting in June and any suggestions should be made known to the President or the chairman of the Funds Action committee. He said that the subscription for next year could remain the same if our Membership did not decline. In closing the meeting President John said that Officers and Committee Chairs for next year were all in place now with the exception of the Public Relations Committee, for which applications were requested. The speaker next week would be Rotarian Bob Buchan.
