Club members please log in for more information.

We had a good attendance at college with no guests other than our speaker.

Bill did Grace and fines and food was up to usual standard.

In announcements, Rob referred to:

Mildmay call for help with Marshalling for Baddow Races 15 May. This requires a Sunday morning and helps a good cause; If you can help, please let me know and I'll pass on your name.

A cockney night run by Maldon Masonic Wheel of Fellowship Lodge; It sound good fun and if you are interested in attending please contact Malcolm

Mildmay Presidents Lunch is at Channels on Sun 22 May - I am going with my wife, anyone want to join us from Phoenix? £25.

Rob sought club views on supporting a local young man planning to spend a year gaining experience of law and criminology in California. Members agreed that we should donate £100 and that we should invite him to give us a talk at a suitable time.

Richard gave an update on prep for W4W and all are asked to be prepared to assist on the day, 7 May.

Malcolm reported that our G**f team has reached the national final of the Rotary GB&I tournament when they hope to improve on last year's 3rd place. Congratulations on the achievement so far and we look forward to marking more success.

After the usual comfort break, we welcomed as our guest speaker, Brad from British Red Cross. A fair guide to success or otherwise of our speakers is the number of questions and interest generated; by that gauge this was a success as it was difficult to draw it to a close.

Brad told us about an interesting, and apparently successful, project at Broomfield Hospital designed to ensure medically fit people are discharged as quickly as possible by removing any practical/logistical hurdles in the way of that. As someone who used to be very interested in that sort of challenge it was interesting to see what can be achieved by simple interventions. Linda W gave vote of thanks.

The raffle was won by Leila, who seems to have a new way of ensuring success - leave before the raffle is drawn!

Next week we are again at college for a talk on the working of the courts system. Apologies to Jane as usual.
