Dinner and speaker at the Baron

Wed 24th August 2016 at 19.30 - 21.30

Tonight we hear Sheila Smith tell us about the Leintwardine Youth Group....

This was a very informative and inspiring talk, telling us about this charity that gives people aged 11 to 21 the opportunity to come together and undertake a wide range of activities. The Leintwardine Youth Group LYG) has 60 to 80 regular members from across the region - they meet every Tuesday afternoon from 4pm and the activities are free  (all that they have to pay for is drinks and sundries). The young people are supported by three youth workers, two of whom volunteer their time and one who is paid to fulfill the legal requirements of such organisations. Activities include those based at their venue ( the Leintwardine Village Hall ) and those organised at other venues. You can see more on their website.....The main source of revenue is Lionstock - a weekend of live music held in April which raises over £4000 to support LYG but further support is always welcome to allow all the young people to participate in all the activities for free.....Many thanks for the insight Sheila - a very worthwhile charity.....
