Jackson Christy Golf Day at Royal Dornoch

Rotary Golf Fellowship at Royal Dornoch

Rotarians from across the District enjoyed a great day playing golf at Royal Dornoch on Sunday 23rd April. Nineteen golfers enjoyed a welcome bacon roll and fantastic two-course meal following the game. The banter on - and off - the course was fun and quick with players from different clubs mixing well.

The winners were:
1st Martin Foster
2nd Alastair Scott
3rd John Fowlie

The Jackson Christy Golf Competition is one of the oldest in the District, dating from 1963. Peter Jackson of the Rotary Club of Dundee and Ken Christy of the Butler Rotary Club ub Pennsylvania, USA met at a Rotary International convention in New York. The annual competition has run between the two districts ever since.

The winner of the 1010 District travels one year to the USA and the next year the US winner comes to Scotland. There used to be 200 golfers taking part in this competition but numbers have somewhat diminished over the years. However Rotarians are aiming to reverse the trend.

If you would like to play at Cruden Bay as part of next year's competition then please contact Alastair Scott.
