Club helps with rail project

It was full steam ahead in Barrow Park recently when the Rotary Club of Furness made a donation to help with Christmas lights for the miniature railway.

The attraction is run by volunteers and has been popular with children and their adult relatives for many years and it was a pleasure to give them a helping hand with a donation of £75.

Picture shows Fred Winkfield (l), with Nigel Johnson (r) presenting the cheque to railway volunteer Dave Fuller.

When Fred and Nigel arrived the platform was busy with children and parents eagerly waiting for the train to come round. The attraction has been going for many years now and Dave is looking to extend and improve his workshop to include solar panels to help with power as the railway has no mains and uses a generator.
