Wells Rotary is part of the Rotary International organisation, Rotary Great Britain and Ireland and Rotary District 1200, known together as the Rotary family.

The club exists to:

  1. Develop fellowship within the Rotary family, particularly within the club

  3. Support activities of members and friends of the Rotary family

  4. Take steps to improve the lot of people and organisations wherever an opportunity to do so is perceived

  5. Engage with others as appropriate so that its purposes may be furthered

All its activities are guided by the Four Way Test of Rotary which asks of any proposed action:

  1. Is it the truth?

  2. Is it fair to all concerned?

  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

If a proposal does not satisfy this test entirely the proposal will not be taken further.

  2. Gets agreement from a member’s partner that their name might be held and used, where appropriate, for Rotary purposes;

  3. Uses the data only for the purposes it was originally given or might reasonably be assumed to flow ;

  4. Is open and straightforward about how it gathers, keeps and uses data and will let any person know what data is held about them if they should ask; if desired, the data will be corrected or removed, as far as is consistent with membership of Rotary;

  5. Keeps the data only for as long as it reasonably might be thought to need it;

  6. Requires that all members handle data relating to members in accordance with this policy, whether on paper or some other form of storage;

  7. Guides members to the options about controlling access to their data within the Rotary family, via the website and DMS database;

  8. Ensures that data passed elsewhere within the Rotary family is handled according to these principles:

    1. Rotary International’s policy is at www.rotary.org

    2. Rotary Great Britain and Ireland’s policy is at www.rotarygbi.org

    3. District 1200’s policy is at www.rotary-ribi.org/district1200
