The competition is open to students aged 7 - 17 to encourage young people to:-
 

  • Experiment with Photography

  • Use either digital or traditional methods of photography

  • Show interpretation of a given topic

  • Express their ideas through the medium of photography

There are three age categories with ages taken on 31st August 2013:
 

  • Junior:  Aged 7-10 years (Date of Birth 01.09.2002 - 31.08.2006)

  • Intermediate: Aged 11-13 years (Date of Birth 01.09.1999 - 31.08.2002)

  • Senior: Aged 14-17 years (Date of Birth 01.09.1995 - 31.08.1999)
     

Entrants should submit a portfolio of three different prints, either in colour or black and white, no larger than A4 size on photographic quality paper, together with the 3 photos copied on a disc, and must also provide, in no more than 50 words, a description of the inspiration for their photographs and how they reflect the theme.


One winner from each age group selected by their local Rotary Club is entered into the District Competition & the winners to the RIBI final.  All winning photographs will remain the property of the photographers.  However, the photographs may be displayed in the Rotary Today magazine and/or shown on the RIBI, District & Club web sites stating the winner’s age group etc.  As stated in the rules, photographs of people under 18 years of age must be accompanied by written permission from the parent, guardian or carer of the person photographed.
