Risk Management in Rotary
Risk Management for Rotary Clubs
Risk Management helps protect organisations
Risk management is a process whereby;
- Risks, threats and potential negative events are identified
- Plans are created to minimize or eliminate the impact of negative events
- Strategies are prepared to suit the type of risk and the type of organisation
Reasons for using risk management practices include;
- Keeping an organisation viable and safe
- Reducing financial and reputational risks
- Protecting the employees, volunteers, service users, and general public from negative events
- Preserving the physical facilities, data, records, and physical assets an organisation owns or uses.
Ensure we continue to meet the high ethical expectations our communities have of Rotary
Rotary is a well respected organisation in our local and international communities. Rotarians follow our 4-Way Test ensuring that everything we Think, Say, or Do is the Truth, Fair to all, Builds Friendships and is of Benefit to All.
But, it would only take one negative event to damage the reputation of a Club, or Rotary in a particular area. Poor management of a Project may result in financial loss or safety concerns. Inappropriate or ill thought out approaches to Club procedures can cause ill feeling and cost money.
The next steps :
Consider how best your Club should undertake the Risk Management Process – further guidance is available here.
Ensure that you understand the various Policies and Procedures already available from RIBI & the District Team. Select the links below for further information.
Don’t forget that Managing Risk is no more than is expected by our 4-Way Test
