Volcano

Disaster update

Guatemala has been left reeling by the most violent volcanic eruption since 1974.  The Fuego volcano has spewed lava, ash, rocks and deadly hot gas onto hillside villages, killing 99 people so far.

More than 3,000 people have been forced to flee their homes.

ShelterBox has a team in situ in Panama waiting to see what their response should be but in a position to act very quickly.

They are also in touch with Rotary in country for a coordinated response. As a first responder in a position to help rapidly RIBI recommend that if Clubs want to help those affected by the disaster they initially direct any donations to ShelterBox
