Theo Woods visited with his grandma, wife of our former member Geoffrey Woods.
He has been chosen as part of a group who are travelling to Peru, where they will carry out some charity work as well as being able to visit memorable sites.

The store has kindly allowed us to collect again this year, with all proceeds going to our Benevolent Fund for distribution to charities. The public were very generous and cheerful givers.

The Provost of Sunderland Minster visited and delivered a most interesting and original Christmas message to about 30 members and guests. An enjoyable time was had by all who attended this last meeting of the year.

Peter had contacted us vie the website as he is over from Canada visiting family. He is Past President of Belleville Rotary in Ontario, Canada and gave us a talk about his own life and that of the activities of his own Rotary Club.
John Shield is now President Elect.  Here he is selling Christmas cards.

This was the Special General Meeting when we elected officers for the following Rotary year. We also discussed future events. John Shield becomes President Elect and Phil Herdson President Nominee.

Fri 29th November 2024 Swinging 60's Night

Another enjoyable night of 60's music for dancing provided by John Shield's group Cats Night Out. In the interval we enjoyed a typical meal of the decade. Prizes were awarded for the best costumes and we had a raffle. A good night was had by all.

Tue 26th November 2024 Speakers Fred Raffle and Michael Shaw Host John Peter Calvert

Michael Shaw has returned, having lived in New Zealand for many years. He wished to contact Fred and Barbara Raffle and did so via our website. We invited them along and he gave us a talk about his career. Barbara had taught him when a teenager.

The Garden Centre kindly allowed us to collect again this year, with all funds going to our Benevolent Fund for distribution to charities. The customers were very generous.

Sat 26th October 2024 Grand Charity Concert

Sunderland Symphony Orchestra presented a delightful programme of popular classical and light music by the string section. This helped to raise funds for Sunderland Minster and Rotary Seaburn Benevolent Fund.

Mon 21st October 2024 Coffee Morning for End Polio Now

The Grand Hotel helped us to stage a Coffee Morning in the Restaurant area to raise funds to End Polio Now. Well supported event which raised £670.00 including £200.00 donated by Sunderland Rotary.

We had a valuable discussion with the two potential members who attended regarding what Rotary is about and the events that our club organises to raise funds. We also told them about the charities that we support with donations from those funds.

The Connor Brown Trustees came to tell us about their work in helping to reduce knife crime. They gave a very well prepared and informative presentation, which they show to schools when they visit.

The District Foundation Chairman visited to update us on Foundation. He congratulated the club on having consistently donated $100 per member to the Annual Fund and also donated £500 for End Polio Now.
