About us

Welcome to Bury Abbey Rotary Club

We are happy to be back meeting in person at the Beer Cafe in Bury St Edmunds and will be delighted to meet anyone who would like to join our business meetings, and explore the possibility of membership. Meetings  are held on the second Monday of each month. Please get in touch to register your interest. Social events and fundraisers happen at other times see the calendar,  again please get in touch if you would like to attend any of these.

Lets Take Care of Each Other!
In these difficult times we would ask that anyone, (member or non member) who has tested positive for COVID 19 , has symptoms associated with the virus, or has been in close contact with someone who is infected, refrains from attending any events with the club until they are well again.

Properly called The Rotary Club of Bury St Edmunds Abbey, we are a group of local people whose main aim is to serve the local community, and the wider world by using our skills, and some of our time to benefit others. We are a very active fundraising group that, on average, will give somewhere between £40,000 and £45,000 every year, to local good causes in and around Bury St Edmunds.

We actively organise and manage a number of our own fundraising events each year, but also help other groups with their events. In addition we work to encourage and support the young people of the town in various fields.

We are  a part of Rotary International and are often amongst the first to provide aid to disaster hit parts of the world while, at the same time, carrying out simple projects like providing dictionaries to Rwandan schools, building wells in the middle of a desert or helping to End Polio on a worldwide scale. Our main focus however is to help the people of Bury St Edmunds.

This all sounds very serious, and we do acheive amazing things, but we have a huge amount of fun, make great friends, and frankly we wouldnt do it if we didnt enjoy it so much - so why not come along and see what its all about.
