Welcome to Bury Abbey Rotary Club
Properly called The Rotary Club of Bury St Edmunds Abbey, we are a group of local people whose main aim is to serve the local community, and the wider world by using our skills, and some of our time to benefit others. We are a very active fundraising group that, on average, will give somewhere between £8,000 and £10,000 every year, to local good causes in and around Bury St Edmunds.
We actively organise and manage a number of our own fundraising events each year, but also help other groups with their events. In addition we work to encourage and support the young people of the town in various fields.
We are a part of Rotary International and are often amongst the first to provide aid to disaster hit parts of the world while, at the same time, carrying out simple projects like providing dictionaries to Rwandan schools, building wells in the middle of a desert or helping to End Polio on a worldwide scale. Our main focus however is to help the people of Bury St Edmunds. This all sounds very serious, and we do acheive amazing things, but we have a huge amount of fun, make great friends, and frankly we wouldnt do it if we didnt enjoy it so much - so why not come along and see what its all about.
