The Tower Trudge is a nominal 8 mile walk and is suitable for accompanied children. There is also a five mile route for those who would feel the full route too demanding. Each walker completing the Trudge received a personalised certificate.
The walkers set out from the Olde England Kiosk in Sunnyhurst Woods from 09:00 and finish at the same place were refreshments can be obtained.
If the weather is even reasonably kind, the views from Darwen Moors are among the best in the area stretching from the Lake District round the Three Peaks and the Peak District to Snowdonia and, if we are lucky, the Isle of Man.
The main walk takes in Tockholes, Rocky Brook and Darwen Tower. The shorter walk is via Tockholes and Step Back then to Darwen Tower.
Both walkers are on public footpaths over open moorland, so walkers are advised to wear suitable footwear and take appropriate clothing including waterproofs.
A low-level route is available in case of poor weather making the climb to Darwen Tower unwise.
Bolton Mountain Rescue will be in attendance in case of any emergencies on the day.

Draft_Route_5th_September_2019.pdf Correct at 5th September but may need updating if any footpaths are subsequently closed.
