David Skilling of East Ayrshire Foodbank - visitors welcome

Kilmarnock Rotary donates regularly to the local foodbanks. The club heard tonight from David Skilling, the co-ordinator of East Ayrshire Foodbanks. David and his team of volunteers run a total of nine foodbanks throughout East Ayrshire providing essential food and toiletries to people in crisis. He described the organisation and logistics required in providing a balanced and nutritious diet for adults and children, as well as the provision of advice on claiming benefits. The foodbank helps single people, couples and families with 6548 three-day emergency food supplies going to families last year. Donations to foodbanks have dropped recently and the service is struggling to meet demand, and David remains grateful for donations from any source.
