Ged O'Brien on 'Scotland: Founders of Modern World Football’

Ged O’Brien is the foremost champion for Scotland’s role as the most important sporting nation, on earth. In his talk 'Scotland: Founders of Modern World Football’ he will explain why this fact is barely known, even amongst sports historians. Ged was the founder of the Scottish Football Museum. He is the author of ‘Played in Glasgow’ and is currently writing 'The Scottish Game: How Scotland Invented Modern World Football’. His proudest moment was proving that the world’s first black international captain was Andrew Watson of Scotland. He currently teaches in the East End of Glasgow, where senior students who take Scottish Studies with him have the opportunity to follow his history unit ‘How Glasgow Invented World Football’.
