The Rotary club of Senlac’s Charity Jazz Picnic was held on 16th August in the Westfield Lane, St Leonards, garden of Rotarian Pat and Judy Connor.
The event, organised by Pat and Judy, is becoming a highlight of local jazz fans and this year raised well over £1,100 for local charities. Although there was a distinct lack of sunshine in the weather the music brought smiles to the faces of those there.
Music was provided by the well-known Sussex Jazz Kings who included the ever popular Brolly Parade in their programme. The up and coming trio of the Victory Sisters were well received with their 40’s and 50’s songs and they look to have a real future in the music world.
The main recipient of the proceeds will be the Glyne Gap Faculty in Bexhill on Sea which is the provision for 16-19 year old students from Glyne Gap School. The school caters for pupils and students with severe and profound learning difficulties. Other local charities will benefit too.
