At our meeting on 24th July, we welcomed our guest Speaker Frederick Smith founder of the charity Just-Friends.
Founded in 2018, Frederick Smith decided to start a group to help combat the effects of loneliness. Membership in Eastbourne grew quickly with demands for branches in Bexhill and Newhaven. Another branch opened in Hastings over the summer of 2022.
Other branches are planned in Brighton and Hove and eventually right along the south coast.
They run a full calendar of events which include walking groups, lunches and other social gatherings.
One of Frederick’s mottoes is “Don’t be shy - Give us a Try.”
There’s no membership fees and no age limit.
