Hungerford Rotary Club
continues its after-supper presentations on 19th May with a talk for
members and guests by Rotarian Graeme Sleeman – well-known resident of Kintbury
and one-time JP.
He will recount a little of
the history of the Village from neolithic times, (identifying key moments), and
report on a few light-hearted observations from the Village records and from
some notable residents.
“Kintbury Remembered” is a
small local charity, founded a couple of years ago to digitise and preserve the
work of Dr Margaret Yates – renowned local historian and GP – and make it available,
(with other information), on the Internet for historical and family research.
A current project with the
Inkpen and Kintbury Family History Society will shortly publish over 6,000 local
records from Church and Gravestone research.
Supper at the Bear Hotel will be at 6.30 for 7.00pm and should you wish to join us, please email Bruce Mayhew on bruce@brucemayhew.co.uk to book a place. This is a dinner meeting and the cost of the meal is £15.00
