Christmas Collecting 2019

The 55th visit of Santa to the District of Daventry is a huge success and 34 local organisations are already benefiting. On the evening of Monday 6th January we held a presentation evening to celebrate. Here we tell details of the evening and the success.
2019 Christmas Presentation Night
The Rotary Club of Danetre Daventry have completed the 55th visit of Father Christmas to the streets of Daventry and District.
With 32 local organisations helping and 600 volunteers "working" 1700 hours in the 3 weeks before Christmas, it gives some idea of the scale of this project.
The above photograph shows the representatives of the organisations attending the dinner when the funds raised where given.

Ashby Fields Scount Group represented by Jen Hinchmough received £470 for their 60 hours of effort.
Barby PTA took over the collection in Barby village and for their efforts they were rewarded with 50% of that nights collection. Here we have Claire Iveson collecting £235 on behalf of the PTA.
Danetre Rotary are pleased to confirm that as in every previous year, ALL collection proceeds will be used locally. They will initially be shared with our participating locally based partners and the portion retained by Rotary, will be used for projects to benefit the local community.
The following are just some examples of what Rotary has recently done:
This summer Rotary took 50 children, identified by their teachers as deserving, to Wickstead Park for the annual and National Kids Out Day.
Annually we run Young Chef, Youth Speaks and Young Photography competitions for local Senior Schools. Another annual event in Primary and Junior Schools is the Presentation of Rotary Stars to children whose Teachers have identified as trying extra hard.
Cube Disability, Daventry ‘Young Carers’ Xmas Hampers, as well as the Daventry ‘Green Health’, ‘Diabetes UK’ Group, Mind and the ‘Clean & Green Project have all recently received Donations from previous Christmas Collections.
Also benefitting from the Christmas Collection have been Daventry Contact and the Friends of Daventry Country Park. The Holiday Lunches project run by the local Churches during the summer was also fully funded by Rotary.

Rotary Club of Danetre Daventry have been arranging the Annual Christmas Collection since 2005. As usual we held a Presentation Evening to pass on to the 28 Daventry Organisations their share of the collection for the effort they contributed.

Monday 10th February a great night at Rotary. Tonight President Bob inducted 2 new members into the Rotary Club of Danetre Daventry.
