ICS Burkina Faso

ICS Local Student Jake's visit to teach and help individuals
Bradley Stoke Roary provided some funds for Jake to undertake a trip to Burkino Faso

International Citizen Service (ICS) provides overseas volunteer placements for 18-25 year olds and Team Leader placements for 23-35 year olds.

All you need to apply for ICS is the ambition to make a difference.

Jake an ex-pupil of Winterbourne International School and University Graduate recently came to a Bradley Stoke Rotary Club Meeting. At the meeting he pitched for some aid to help him take part in ICS's aid in Burkino Faso. Below is a letter he sent to the club.

It’s Jake here, I recently talked at a Bradley Stoke Rotary Club meeting about my trip to Burkina Faso.

I couldn’t locate Steve Bateman’s email address and was hoping you could forward this to him. The email is for the whole group however, so it is also partially addressed to you!

I just wanted to reiterate my thanks and tell you how hugely appreciative I was of your help, it made a huge difference and really encouraged me to continue my fundraising with fervour.

It was pleasure coming to speak with you all and you genuinely made me feel very welcome, which was handy considering I’m not that used to public talking!

With regards to the young leader candidate, I’ve requested a nomination from my father, he’s currently thinking about it and will get back to me soon!

And as a small update! My fundraising is going well and it looks like I’ll definitely reach my target, which is a great relief. Which means I should be setting off on April 13th as planned.

I look forward to coming and giving a fuller update upon my return.

Once again, thank you very much!

Best wishes,

Jake
