ROTARY GOLF DAY BENEFITS MANY CHARITIES
Each year Richmond Rotary Club has used a variety of activities to raise money for charities. One of the most successful has been a golf competition at Richmond Golf Club.
Once again, this year we were delighted to be able to hold the event.
A total of 21 teams from local businesses, golfers and Rotary Clubs competed. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny for the event, and the day was sponsored by local Richmond and national companies.
The First Prize was won by the team from The Little Drummer Boy Café in Richmond. The Sherwood Cup for the best Rotary Team went to Harrogate Brigantes Rotary who also won the Walter Hepworth Memorial Trophy.
The main organiser of the Golf Day was Richmond Rotarian Colin Chitty who said after the event:
‘It was great that we were able to organise the Golf Day again this year and I am grateful to all my Rotary colleagues for their assistance. Without the continuing support of participants, the event would not be possible, and it is good that such an enjoyable day ultimately benefits so many people.
Funds were raised from participants through entry fees, a tombola and refreshments mostly provided by Rotary ladies.
We remain especially grateful to everyone at Richmond Golf Club for their continuing support for our Rotary event at their superb golf course.’
Richmond Rotary President Mac Bryant commented:
‘Thanks to the hard work of everyone involved we were able to raise over £3,000.
This will support some really good causes including Yorkshire Air Ambulance, The Motor Neuron Disease Association, Yorkshire Cancer Research, the Storehouse Foodbank in Richmond and Just the Job Environmental Services.’
We hope that next year we shall be able to repeat what was clearly a hugely successful day.’
