Rabbie Burns Celebrations
An enjoyable evening of celebration of the immortal bard – Rabbie Burns - was had by all on Wednesday 22 January 2025
Tradition was to the fore as the haggis was piped in by Rachel, helped by Alan who gave an amusing and informative eulogy to the bard later in the evening. George gave an authentic and vigorous address to the haggis (followed by a toast). Roy introduced a toast to the lassies with suitably praiseworthy and poetic words and Louise responded with grace, wit (and compliments) to lead a toast to the laddies.
The menu reflected tradition by including (of course) haggis, chosen by two thirds of the guests and, cranachan and a wee dram for the toasts. Everyone enjoyed the good food and the friendly and attentive service at the Mayfield.
On February 5th we revert to our normal schedule of weekly meetings starting with an introduction from Michelle and Sarah to the charity Future Works NY and their upcycling outlet at Furniture Works. In the week following (Feb 12) we hear from Nigel about the fabulous toy appeal run by the Scarborough Rotary Club.An enjoyable evening of celebration of the immortal bard – Rabbie Burns - was had by all on Wednesday 22 January 2025
