Henley Rotary Club will have a major presence at the Thames Traditional Boat Festival, held this year on July 18-20 at Fawley Meadows just outside of Henley.
Each year, we share our gazebo space with charities and community endeavours relating to the river. Last year, for example, we successfully raised money for Shelterbox by hosting Rotarian Phil Wetherill as he travelled down the Thames in his boat made out of one of the boxes.
This year, we will be featuring Regatta for the Disabled, which offer an annual day out on and by the river for those with disabilities and their families/carers. We will also be hosting David Wallace and Chris Szweda, two citizen scientists who use specialist testing equipment to test pollution in the Thames on a regular basis.
Members of the club will also be assisting the Festival in stopping rubbish from the event ending up in the Thames.
