BIG BIRD ON A BIKE
The recent fundraising evening "Big Bird on a Bike" organised by the Inner Wheel club of Guernsey was a huge success. Judi Zebedee a Guernsey women and daughter of Heather Norman, a member of Inner Wheel, had recently cycled 27,000 miles around the globe!
The evening was open to all Rotarians friends and members of the Public and raised over £500.00 in donations for Judi's chosen charity the Stroke Association.
The event was introduced by Pauline Telford, Inner Wheel President, who whet the appetite of the audience with a few facts and figures before handing over to Judi.
Judy gave a 90 minute presentation, with pictures, which was truly inspiring and received a very long and loud ovation at the close, which when you consider she cycled, 27,000 miles in 27 months covering 4 continents on her own was no surprise at all.
Her stories, pictures and excellent delivery had everyone spell bound by the sheer magnitude of the journey. At times seeing the roads she cycled, through mountains, deserts and forests defied belief covering distances between 100 and 200 km per day!
Dave Mortimer, President of The Rotary Club of Guernsey closed the evening and pointed everyone towards the community area for tea, coffee and cakes, which were supplied by Inner Wheel.
