President Alan and PP Ron joined the Ryde School senior team on their trip to Exmouth, Devon, to compete in the semi finals of Youth Speaks. There were five teams competing against each other and only one could win through to the finals. The Ryde team went second and their theme was the state of the NHS and how it could be improved. Their presentation went extremely well and the main speakers understanding of the issues was incisive and detailed. Unfortunately, when the judges gave their deliberation they did not win but were highly commended and they said the range of scores between highest and lowest was very few. The school really did do themselves proud and I am sure that they have gained a great deal from the experience.
