Ewenny and Ogmore Rivers

The May Rotary Ramble started at Merthyr Mawr suspension bridge on a blustery but dry Wednesday morning.

Ten ramblers crossed the bridge heading to the Ewenny River and up stream as far as Verville Farm (name taken from a nearby ancient settlement). Following the field boundaries we next stopped at the 15th century New Inn dipping bridge (last used for dipping sheep in the late 1960s). We then headed up alongside the Ogmore River through Newbridge Fields where we reached our turning point and walked back down the wooded side of the Ogmore to picturesque  village of Merthyr Mawr.

The day's outing was completed at the Mackworth Arms, Laleston, where a further five Rotarians joined the group for a meal and refreshments.
