Foundation and International Services

Lichfield St Chad supports Rotary’s own charity, the Rotary Foundation, a non-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world. It has one of the largest and most prestigious international fellowship programs in the world and with the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is jointly instrumental in supporting the programme to erradicate the scourge of polio from this world.  In 2018 there have only been 29 new cases of polio worldwide, and Nigeria has been declared polio-free for 12 months - a magnificent achievement.

The club’s other efforts on the International scene is providing disaster relief through Aquabox and Shelterbox which are internationally recognised charities, both founded by Rotary in 1992 and 2000 respectively.

We have also committed this year to sponsoring a young student at the Sacred Heart School in San Ignacio, Belize through high school over the next four years towards entry and studying at University level.
