The Rotary Foundation.

The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share the aim of a better world.

The Foundation is the Charity of Rotary.

The Foundation is one of the largest charities in the world and one of the most efficient. It is recognised as probably one of the most efficient charities where the distribution of humanitarian help is required. The majority of this help is in the developing world.

The foundation concentrates its efforts in attempting to improve the quality of life, providing health care, clean water, food, education and other essential needs. It concentrates its efforts in looking for projects that for the sake of very small monetary outlays on each person, can dramatically improve the quality of life for large numbers of people.

One of the Foundations major Humanitarian Programs is Polio Plus, which seeks to eradicate the poliovirus worldwide.

It funds Medical Practitioners, Engineers, Teachers and others who have the skills to work on humanitarian projects in the developing world. This also includes exchanges in order that skills can be developed by those who will return their own countries to promote and participate in humanitarian projects.

The Foundation is not only about the developing world, local Rotary Clubs can apply for grants in order that worthwhile projects can be undertaken locally.

Outside the Foundation the majority of money raised by Rotary Clubs is put back into projects in the local community.
