Service Projects (Stuff we've done)
Rotary is ABOUT SERVICE!
Helping others is what Rotarians are all about - the permanent motto of Rotary is "Service above Self". In this section we'll highlight some of the projects we've worked on during the last year, both locally and internationally.
In the recent past we've been doing the following:
Working with Young People £700
Every year we run a local heat of the National Youth Speaks competition (and provide the prizes). Winners in both Intermediate and Senior sections go forward to compete on a wider stage.
As part of the Rotary family we support clubs for young people and the next generation through our Rotakids (7-11), Interact (12-18) and Rotaract (18-30) Clubs. Mostly these are school based. We helped Northwood School establish their Interact Club in 2014. We also run a "paired reading" scheme with Northwood school where our members work with students to improve their reading skills.
At the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) young people have fun and learn valuable team working & leadership skills.
Working with Local & National Charities £14,000
Working with International Charities £13,000
