There are 13
Rotary clubs which are members of Rotary in Fife (formerly AFRC – Association of
Fife Rotary Clubs). Kilrymont is one of
earlier members. The clubs work together to support a variety of different
projects. Natural Connections
– this was first project started by Leven Rotary Club. This allowed 20 Young Carers to take part in
Natural Connections arranged by Fife Council Countryside Rangers. As well as financing the Young Carers, Rotarian
volunteers ferried the young carers from their homes to Lochore Meadows, for
the two weeks and one weekend of the course.
In 2019 this was replaced a week on the Ocean Youth Trust ship and 10
young carers attended. Disability
Sport Fife – Rotary in Fife awarded 6 bursaries to 6 junior athletes to help
them on their way to national and international recognition. The bursaries are used to cover event fees or
the purchase of sports clothing or equipment. Books Abroad –
a few years ago the Association became involved in a very successful collection
of books for Ghana. This time the
Association is collecting for Books Abroad which is based in Rhynie,
Aberdeenshire and aims to alleviate poverty through education. Their output is currently is 125,000 per year.
Anne Tait, a member of Kilrymont Rotary, is the Club contact for Rotary in Fife.
