President Martin Ross welcomed our only visitor, past president of our
club Mary Riley.
John Rankin gave notice of a visit from the Canadian curlers next year.
He is looking for Rotarians to act as hosts during the visit.
Peter Mehta has arranged with the Thistle Center for the club to collect
on behalf of the Philippines disaster on 16/11/12. we will also be
sending two shelter boxes and possibly Water Aid boxes.
The president's night is on 5th December in the management center 7 for
7.30.
Rotarian Gordon McCulloch spoke, tongue in cheek, but very movingly ,on
that very serious disease Man Flu. As women are never stricken with this
virus they tend to play down it's seriousness. For their guidance the
video outlined the essential steps they must take. Call in sick at the
man's work, make him warm and comfortable, provide pain relief and
soothing fluids, which may include alcohol. and give him theTV remote
control. The duration of the illness varies but can be affected by
important football matches on TV.
Happily Gordon has recovered but it has left him with an inability to do
housework. A request to put out the dustbin may bring on a relapse. The
largely male audience were in full agreement with the speaker, as was
SVP David Paterson who gave the vote of thanks.
