A Club 'Business' Evening


A business meeting was held at the Rotary Club last week when Vice President Sandy Bannerman was in the chair.  Brian Beattie attended as a guest of Jack Swanston.  The various convenors gave their committee's reports on their future plans.  Gus Neilson, Foundation reported that a film night had been arranged on 17th January, 2014 when "Sunshine on Leith" would be featured and the proceeds would go to Rotary's "End Polio Now" programme.  Mairhi Trickett, International reported that 110 shoeboxes of Xmas gifts had been despatched to Eastern Europe.  Bob Kellet, Treasurer gave a satisfactory report on the club's healthy finances.  George Rennie, Vocational/Community informed the club that 32 copies of a coloured Rotary 'Dictionary for Life'  would be supplied in the Spring, 2014 to P6 at Burnfoot Community School.  The President's Dinner followed by entertainment would be held on Friday, 29th November at Mansfield Park Function Suite when other Border clubs would be invited to attend.
