After a period of 5 years since the last time the event was held, and at the request of President Nigel, a petanque evening was arranged with the Gateway Club for 15 May 2014. The event is a winning formula that brings together members from the Rotary Club of Guernsey, the Guernsey Club de Petanque, and the Gateway Club for a social evening that is both relaxing and great fun for all.
The Guernsey Club de Petanque kindly hosted the event at their fantastic club facility in St Andrews, and their members gave us a warm welcome and generously turned out at the event to provide the necessary facilities (les boules), arrange the petanque games, and provide coaching.
After a few games of petanque, everyone sat down together to enjoy a buffet supper provided by Rotary club members.
By the end of the evening, everyone agreed that once again it had been a great success, and that we shouldn't wait for another 5 years before holding the event again!
