Visit to Alnwick Rotary Club

Thu, Sep 4th 2014 at 12:40 pm - 12:40 pm

We made an official visit to the Rotary Club of Alnwick. Eighteen members and guests made upparty and we dined in the Olympic Suite. This room is famous for its panelling, which is from the SS Olympic, which was the sister shipog the ill-fated "Titanic"

The first official visit of President Len's year was to the Rotary Club of Alnwick.

We received a fine Rotary welcome from members of the Alnwick Club and enjoyed good fellowship over an excellent lunch. The after-lunch speaker, Nick Lewis, gave a very interesting talk about Little Beblow, an eminenvce next to Lindisfarne castle on which are remains of another Tudor fortification.

A highlight of the occasion was the opportunity to renew fellowship with our former member, Bill Thomas, who now lives in the area. Bill was Formally presented by Linda with a certificate marking his appointment as an honourary member of the Rotary Club of Newcastle upon Tyne.
