What is Rotary?

An explanation of the meaning and purpose of Rotary.


Rotary International is an international service organisation with a stated purpose of bringing together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards and help build goodwill and peace in the world. It is a secular organisation open to all persons regardless of race, colour, creed, religion, gender or political preferences. There are over 34000 clubs worldwide with over 1.2 million members.
Members of Rotary Clubs are known as Rotarians who usually meet weekly. these meetings provide an opportunity, in a social environment, to organise work on their community and fund raising goals.
Rotary's flagship motto is "Service above Self".
