Our prospective new member evidently 'ticked all the boxes' when looking back on a career of interest variety and public service.
Recalling his school days in London and personal involvement in the Blitz, his enjoyment with the Cadet Corps and the City of London Royal Fusiliers led to a regular commission in the Royal Artillery and a satisfying professional career in regimental and staff appointments from light field pieces to nuclear planning.
These took him variously to Egypt, Germany, UK and NATO and an exchange tour in Canada that tempted him to settle there.
Retirement saw his appointment as Director of Fund Raising with the Wessex Medical Trust in Southampton, followed by involvement with local government in Wiltshire both as a county and a district councilor.
Settled in Amesbury and a large family, his membership of Rotary was marked by both he and his wife Betty becoming Paul Harris Fellow (Sapphire). With his recent move to Stonehouse for family reasons we can look forward to a welcome.
Peter Rawll.
