27th May Club Assembly attended by 25 members! and 4 guests. Clearly the new team had given plenty of thought to their plans for the coming year. Eamon identified 5 areas for specific focus. Jerry Ramsden, Roger Bougeard and Richard Romeril talked respectively about the ongoing work at Good Companions, including the good news of a £40,000 donation to the renovation fund by a charitable trust, membership matters with a real emphasis of helping new members to "bed in" to the club and its activities, and lastly the reinvigoration of Fund Raising beyond the Golf Day and Christmas Appeal. In fact Richard Romeril is to chair the committee for 2 years to provide continuity and momentum. Papers are available on the other 2 areas of focus, developing the Peace Community into local organisations and working with schools to help embed PeaceJam or similar into the local curriculum. And more promotional work by the M&PR committee. The papers related to these 5 topics are attached they make a good read. They are here. Incoming District Governor Tony Summers and his wife Sybil joined the meeting and Tony was very complimentary about our programme.

27th May AGM  As expected Eamon Fenlon, Roger Bougeard and Richard Romeril were confirmed as President, President Elect and President Nominee for the 2015-16 year. Yvonne Staples takes over as Treasurer from Richard Robins who has managed our finances so well over the last 5 years. And being a glutton for punishment, for the second time on the night, Richard Romeril continues as Secretary. Other members of council are Ray Shead, Susan McCabe, Peter Paturel, Jerry Ramsden, John Reed and Geoff Shepherd. Various amusing exchanges occurred especially over the democracy of voting or not on each proposition and the frequency of meetings. After delaying tactics by the 5 "usual suspects", meetings are still to be held fortnightly and not weekly!
