Steve spoke about his work as manager of three of their nature reserves at North Walney, Duddon Mosses & Hallsenna near Drigg. His presentation included details of the different flora & fauna and how the sites were created.
Natural England is the non-departmental public body of the UK government responsible for ensuring that England's natural environment, including its land, flora and fauna, freshwater and marine environments, geology and soils, are protected and improved. It also has a responsibility to help people enjoy, understand and access the natural environment.
President Angela thanked Steve for his presentation.
The meeting was told that a recent table-top sale in Newton raised the club £257.00.
Club members also helped to steward the Hospice Walk for Life and collect for the local Food bank at Tesco and are looking forward to 26th July when they will help on the gate and with ticket sales at the Lakeland Steam Gathering.
A reminder was given that the Festival of Rotary would take place at Southport in March. It's an annual event attended by most of the 69 Rotary clubs in Cumbria and Lancashire.
