Our annual Open Gardens day.

Heatons Open Gardens 2016

This fifth Heatons Open Gardens was once again a huge success. The bright sun brought out the crowds in their hundreds, with some visitors coming from as far away as Liverpool and Huddersfield. We were delighted to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress to the event this year, and one of the gardens had over 700 visitors!

The new gardens were a resounding success and visitors were delighted to find that some of the previous gardens were open once again. Thankfully the sun brought out the blossom, and scented azaleas, bluebells and forget-me-nots bloomed everywhere, along with majestic tulips and early vegetable plants. Over a thousand pounds was made for charity in the individual gardens and Lamplighter Rotary's charity fund benefitted greatly from programme sales.

Once again, it has been a wonderful day, not just for the money raised for good causes, but also for the community spirit that it creates. Our thanks got to each and every one of you that attended, and especially to the garden hosts who all put in a huge amount of work to get the gardens ready. Finally a very special thank you to Carol Cross, who has overseen the event once again this year, and produced another superb success.
