89th Charter Dinner and Handover

Fri, Jul 1st 2016 at 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

President Fred's Valedictory

Clair Fullarton, editor of the Kilmarnock Standard was one of the special guests at the dinner celebrating the 89th anniversary of the granting of Rotary Charter. 50 Rotarians and friends celebrated the induction of the new President Iain Shaw who received the chain of office from Fred Orr to mark the start of Iain’s year.

Entertainment was provided by the brilliant young singer/ songwriter, Rebecca Herd.

During the last 12 months, members of Rotary enjoyed a full programme of speakers and participation in local community events and charities. During another successful year, Rotary organised an event for the ‘Young Musician of the Year’, a Primary School Quiz, a members’ trip to Berlin, the selection of and support for our local Euroscholar in Strasburg, local support for Sportsablity Ayrshire, Alzheimer’s and our local Foodbank as well as national support for polio immunisation.

Through Kilmarnock Rotary Community Support Fund, we are particularly keen to support clubs and organisations which themselves support the vulnerable in our community e.g. children, teenagers, the elderly, individuals with disabilities and/or additional needs. Applications from individuals are encouraged. We can award £200 to deserving groups and if you are interested check the web site for full details.

If Rotary sounds like the organisation for you, we'd like to hear from you!
