SURPRISE CHEQUE PRESENTATION

Rotary's support for 'People & Gardens' grows

Ken Radford, of People & Gardens - an organisation set up to enable people with learning disabilities or emotional impairments to be able to develop as individuals, to learn work and social skills and to have equality of choice and opportunity in the workplace - was invited to the Club on Thursday 27 October to say a few words.

This invitation followed a Club visit to Watering Lane Nursery, Pentewan last autumn, to meet with Ken and his wife Lorraine and to see something of the work being undertaken by this exceptional Community Interest Company, and to present a cheque for £1200 following the success of Wheels 2015.

So, last week, to his great surprise, Club members Tina Yardley and Paula Martin presented Ken with another cheque; this time courtesy of Wheels 2016, for £1,000.

This ongoing involvement with Ken and Lorraine Radford as they continue their work at People & Gardens gives Wadebridge Rotary Club enormous pleasure and, if ever it was needed, reminds the membership of the value of making the Wheels event one of the great local highlights of the year.

So next year's Wheels event is to be held on Sunday 16 July 2017 up at the Royal Cornwall Show Ground - registrations (for Exhibitors) opens next March.
