The opening of the new pool

A couple of years ago Hungerford Community Theatre Group and Hungerford Rotary club got together to arrange a special performance of "Whistle Down The Wind" at the Arlington Arts Centre.

The money was raised for The Mary Hare School to help refurbish their swimming pool, which is also used by local youngsters. Many companies and individuals donated money to the project which eventually raised more than £400,000. The new look pool was opened by Olympian Duncan Goodhew MBE who unveiled a plaque, which included Hungerford Rotary club's name, and then took the first plunge into the water before showing pupils of Mary Hare the techniques needed to win gold medal of their own.
