Today we followed our meal with a talk by our own Michael Frape on his recent achievements in the Paris Marathon.
He really brought it to life. The atmosphere must have been buzzing.
On Sunday 9th April Rotarian Michael Frape of Cambridge South RC took part in the 41st Paris Marathon. Michael was running in his first marathon in order to raise money for WaterAid and to prove he could do it!
WaterAid has had strong links with Rotary GB&I for many years especially with projects in east Africa.
The weather was unseasonably warm at 25°C without a cloud in the sky, but nevertheless Michael managed to cross the finishing line at the Arc de Triomphe 3 hours 43 minutes and 38 seconds after starting and came 9,353rd out of 42,469 runners. He has raised over £2,000 for WaterAid. Michael’s Just Giving account is still open, so if you want to support WaterAid you can still do so via this link:

Michael said: “It was an amazing experience running my first marathon and Paris was a magnificent setting to do it in. I was really pleased with my time and have signed up for my next marathon already. I have also discovered that there is an international Rotarian fellowship for marathon runners, which I plan to join. I am delighted to have raised so much money for WaterAid and wish to thank all my supporters for their generous contributions.”
