Tuesday meeting at 'Caring for Life' 6.30 for 7.00 p.m.

Caring for Life are based at Otley Old Road, Cookridge, Leeds LS16 7NH and will be one of President Heather Read's charities of her year.


There will be a cold buffet and the bar will be available. Following the meal there will be a talk about 'Caring for Life' from a staff member on its history, aims and activities. Cost of the evening will be £14.00.

Members will recall that the Rotary Club of Aireborough was a donor in supporting the re-development of the shop and dining area.

The Rotary Club of Aireborough owes a great debt to the fine efforts of this committee. Traditionally recruitment begins via personal contact with a member and with meetings now held on both Tuesday lunchtime and Thursday evening there are more options.

This Committee tries to ensure weekly meetings run smoothly, arranges events both fund-raising and social, seeks ways to publicise activities and maintains the website. Reports on activities follow below, although they will often feature on the homepage.

Change of venue for the enthusiastic Jake and friends

This committee organises several yearly community events including Dictionaries4 Life and Kids Out as well as the social Interactive Quiz. It also supports the Friends of Guiseley Cemetery and reading in schools.

These items produced by the  Days for Girls team will soon be benefiting Kwa Zulu Natal pupils

This Committee supports activities financially and through hands-on help, including participating in immunisations in India, filling Aquaboxes for disaster areas, backpacks for Mary's Meals pupils and menstrual care kits for pupils through Days for Girls.

Foundation is Rotary's own charity and close to home funds the Peace Department at Bradford University and in previous years helped many Global grant Scholars including Mark Maccuzzo and Kayono Nakajima to study in Leeds and be hosted by our Club.

The Thursday group initially the Nomads began as a satellite group meeting on the first and third Thursdays of the month at Horsforth Golf Club between 6.00 and 8.00 p.m. on an informal 'drop-in'basis. Periodically other venues are also explored.

This is how and where the Club began in 1953 originally meeting at the then Yeadon Airport. Since then as times have changed so have the venues but we are now firmly ensconced at Horsforth Golf Club
