Suze Appleton gave us a fascinating insight into the life of the 18th century local "Superwoman" Elizabeth Raffald.

Elizabeth Raffald was an amazing multi talented entrepreneur who lived in 18th Century Manchester.

Amongst her numerous achievements were a cook book , an early version of "Yellow Pages" , inn keeping and carriage hire . She also found time to bring nine children into this world !

She had many links with Stockport through her husband , and there is a commerorative plaque to her on the Arden Arms in the town centre , she is buried in St Mary's churchyard.
