Holsworthy marks the centenary of the end of World War Ithumbnail view
Holsworthy Town Council has planted a permanent WW1 Memorial Tree Trail in Stanhope Park. 39 trees have been planted around the park remembering each of the 39 local servicemen from the Holsworthy and the wider rural area who died during the War and whose names are inscribed on the War Memorial. A 40th mature apple tree will be planted for those that survived and those that lived through it, symbolising the future of the living.
Each tree is marked by a plaque with the photo, name and brief history of the deceased. Holsworthy Rotary is proud to have sponsored a tree in memory of Private John Bailey, who died of his wounds on 27 December 1914, aged 29.
