/ Project funding through the Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Foundation funds projects worldwide through Rotary International's network of clubs
Funding for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative is channelled through the Rotary Foundation. This is the endowment fund created in 1917 by Rotary International "to do good in the world". The Rotary Foundation concentrates on six areas: promoting peace, improving health through disease prevention and treatment, improving the health of mothers and children, water and sanitation, education, and economic development. Although best known for 'End Polio Now' it also pursues these aims by administering a system of global and district grants to provide matched funding for projects organised worldwide at the club or district level by Rotary International's 1.2 million members.
